Abstract
In July 2021 Denpasar City was recorded to experience deflation as deep as 0.07 percent as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 104.78 in June 2021 to 104.71 in July 2021. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) and year-to-year inflation rates (July 2021 against July 2020 or YoY) were recorded as high as 0.47 percent and 0.76 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, four expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely: group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of 0.96 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as deep as 0.96 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as deep as 0.28 percent; and group VI (transportation) as deep as 0.09 percent. Meanwhile, seven expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely: group V (health) as high as 0.42 percent; group IX (education) as high as 0.18 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.08 percent; group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as high as 0.08 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.02 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.01 percent; and group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 0.01 percent.
Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to deflation in July 2021 include canang sari, mango, red chili, disposable baby diapers, ground coffee, cooking oil, bananas, oranges, air transportation fares, and elementary school textbooks.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 61 cities experienced inflation and 29 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Sorong City as high as 1.51 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Sampit City as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Manokwari City as deep as 0.60 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Maumere City and Samarinda City at 0.01 percent respectively. If sorted from deepest deflation, Denpasar City ranks 16th out of 29 cities experiencing deflation.
