Denpasar City Consumer Price/Inflation Index October 2021

Abstract

In October 2021, Denpasar City was recorded to experience deflation as deep as 0.23 percent as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 105.03 (2018=100) in September 2021 to 104.79 in October 2021. Meanwhile , the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) and the inflation rate for the year (October 2021 to October 2020 or YoY) were recorded as high as 0.55 percent and 1.37 percent, respectively.

 

Of the eleven expenditure groups, three expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely: group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of 3.32 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as deep as 0.24 percent; and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as deep as 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, five other expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely: group VI (transportation) as high as 0.52 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.12 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.11 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.10 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.07 percent. The other three groups recorded no change in index or stagnant, namely group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel), group IX (education), and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants).

 

Of the 90 CPI cities, 22 cities experienced deflation and 68 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Kendari City as deep as 0.70 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Bengkulu City as deep as 0.02 percent. If sorted from deepest deflation, Denpasar City ranks 8th out of 22 cities experiencing deflation.
