Abstract

In December 2021, Singaraja City was recorded to experience inflation as high as 1.70 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) of 108.74. The inflation rate for the calendar year December 2021 was recorded as high as 2.39 percent, the same as the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2021 against December 2020 or YoY) which was recorded as high as 2.39 percent.

Five expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 5.08 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 3.67 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 1.11 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.06 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, two other expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) of 0.15 percent; and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as deep as 0.13 percent. The other four expenditure groups did not experience a change in the index or were stagnant, namely; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel); group V (health); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants).

Commodities that have contributed to inflation in December 2021 include cayenne pepper, canang sari, cooking oil, broiler eggs, maintenance/service costs, red chilies, rice, spinach and pork.

Of the 90 CPI cities, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 cities experienced deflation. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, then Singaraja ranks 2nd out of 88 cities experiencing inflation.
