Abstract
In May 2021, Singaraja City experienced deflation as deep as 0.50 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 107.61. The inflation rate for the calendar year May 2021 is as high as 1.33 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2021 versus May 2020 or YoY) was recorded as high as 2.87 percent.
Two expenditure groups experienced deflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) by 1.70 percent and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) by 1.01 percent. Meanwhile, five other expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.95 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.40 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.38 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 0.38 percent; and group VI (transportation) as high as 0.26 percent. The other four expenditure groups recorded no change in index or stagnant, namely group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel), group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture), group IX (education), and group X (providing food and drink/restaurant).
Commodities recorded as contributing to deflation in May 2021 include cayenne pepper, red chili, shallots, eggplant, cell phones, pork, bananas, oranges, ice cream, red snapper, young jackfruit, lamuru fish, broiler eggs. , sweet corn, bean sprouts/sprouts, apple, detergent powder/liquid, squid, wet shrimp, and garlic.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 78 cities experienced inflation and 12 experienced deflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Timika (Papua) as deep as 0.83 percent while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Palembang (South Sumatra) as deep as 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Manokwari (West Papua) as high as 1.82 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Tembilahan (Riau) as high as 0.01 percent. If sorted from deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 3rd out of 12 cities experiencing deflation.
