Abstract

In February 2022, Singaraja City experienced deflation as deep as 0.84 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 108.51. The February 2022 calendar year deflation rate was as deep as 0.21 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2022 against February 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 1.00 percent Two expenditure groups experienced deflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) by 2.18 percent and group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) by 1.98 percent. Meanwhile, seven other expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.60 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.25 percent; group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as deep as 0.22 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.06 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.06 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.04 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.01 percent. The other two expenditure groups recorded no change in the index or were stagnant, namely; group IX (education); and group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants). Commodities that contributed to deflation in February 2022 included broiler eggs, canang sari, cayenne pepper, cooking oil, purebred chicken, pork, chickpeas, kale, eggplant, and chicken liver rampella. Of the 90 CPI cities, 53 cities experienced deflation and 37 experienced inflation. If sorted from deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 9th out of 53 cities experiencing deflation.
