Denpasar City Consumer Price Index March 2022

Abstract

In March 2022, Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.85 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 107.09 in February 2022 to 108.00 in March 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year ( year to date/ytd) and year-on-year inflation rates (March 2022 to March 2021 or year on year/YoY) were recorded as high as 1.58 and 2.56 percent, respectively.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, nine expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 1.92 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 1.63 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 1.48 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 1.20 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 0.75 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.64 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.26 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.15 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.04 percent. Only one expenditure group experienced deflation, namely: group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as deep as 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, one other expenditure group recorded no change in index or was stagnant, namely group IX (education).

Of the 90 cities observed for inflation, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Merauke (Papua) at 1.86 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku) at 0.27 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City with 0.85 percent inflation ranks 43 out of 88 cities experiencing inflation.
