Abstract

In March 2023 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.03 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (2018=100 base year) from 113.91 in February to 113.94 in March 2023. Meanwhile, the calendar year inflation rate (year to date/ytd) and year-on-year inflation rates (March 2023 against March 2022 or year on year /yoy) were recorded as high as 0.68 percent and 5.50 percent.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, seven expenditure groups experienced inflation (m to m), namely group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) of 0.61 percent; group I (food, drink and tobacco) by 0.41 percent; group V (health) by 0.33 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) by 0.12 percent; group VI (transportation) by 0.06 percent; group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants) by 0.05 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, three other expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) of -1.56 percent; group IX (education) by -0.15 percent; and group XI (personal care and other services) by -0.12 percent. Meanwhile, group VII (information, communication and financial services) did not experience any changes in the index or was recorded as stagnant.

Of the 90 cities monitored by the National Inflation, 65 cities experienced inflation and 25 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in the City of Kupang (NTT) as high as 1.30 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in the City of Bandung (West Java) as deep as 1.50 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar City with inflation as high as 0.03 percent ranks 65th out of 65 cities experiencing inflation.
