Abstract

In October 2023, Denpasar City was recorded as experiencing inflation as high as 0.15 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 114.93 in September to 115.10 in October 2023. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2023 to October 2022 or year on year/yoy) was recorded as high as 1.71 percent and 2.49 percent.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, three expenditure groups were recorded as experiencing inflation (m to m), namely group VI (transportation) at 1.15 percent, group and other services) of 0.16 percent. Meanwhile, three other expenditure groups were recorded as experiencing deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) at 0.23 percent, group II (clothing and footwear) at 0.11 percent, and group I (food, drinks, and tobacco) of 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the other five groups consist of group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel), group V (health), group VII (information, communication and financial services), group VIII (recreation, sports and culture). ), and group IX (education) recorded no change in index or was recorded as stagnant.

Of the 90 cities monitored for national inflation, 69 cities experienced inflation and 21 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Gorontalo (Gorontalo) at 1.00 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku) with deflation as deep as 1.08 percent. If ranked by highest inflation, Denpasar City, with inflation as high as 0.15 percent, ranks 47th out of 69 cities experiencing inflation.
