Development of Consumer Price Index / Inflation in Denpasar City June 2019

Abstract

In June 2019, Denpasar City experienced inflation of 0.04 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) amounting to 132.73. The inflation rate for the June 2019 calendar year was 0.94 percent while the year-on-year inflation rate (June 2019 to June 2018 or YoY) was recorded at 2.15 percent.


Four expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group IV (clothing) by 0.82 percent; group II (processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco) by 0.26 percent; group V (health) by 0.13 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel) by 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, three expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group I (foodstuffs) as deep as -0.23 percent; group VI (education, recreation, and sports) as deep as -0.12 percent; and group VII (transportation, communication and financial services as deep as -0.10 percent.


Commodities listed as contributing or contributing to inflation in June 2019 include: red chili, tuna / ambush, wet cakes, apples, oranges, zalacca, chicken meat, and children's clothes.


Of the 82 CPI cities, 76 cities experienced inflation and 6 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Manado City (North Sulawesi) of 3.60 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Singaraja City (Bali) of 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in the city of Tanjung Pandan (Bangka Belitung) as deep as -0.41 percent while the lowest deflation was recorded in Kota Jayapura (Papua) at -0.08 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar ranks 75th out of 76 cities experiencing inflation.
