Denpasar City Consumer Price Index December 2019

Abstract

In December 2019 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.81 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 134.62. The December 2019 calendar year inflation rate was recorded as high as 2.37 percent, the same as the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2019 against December 2018 or YoY).

 

Six expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group II (processed food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco) as high as 2.21 percent; group I (food ingredients) as high as 1.36 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.88 percent; group VII (transport, communication and financial services) as high as 0.55 percent; group VI (education, recreation and sports) as high as 0.14 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel) as high as 0.09 percent. Meanwhile, one expenditure group recorded deflation, namely group IV (clothing) as deep as -0.45 percent.

 

Commodities recorded contributing to or contributing to inflation in December 2019 include rice with side dishes, air freight rates, shallots, oranges, noodles, satay, cooking oil, capcai, broiler chicken meat and white cigarettes.

 

From 82 CPI cities, 72 cities experienced inflation and 10 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Batam City (Riau Islands) as high as 1.28 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Watampone City (South Sulawesi) as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Manado City (North Sulawesi) as deep as -1.88 percent while the shallow deflation was recorded in Bukittinggi City (West Sumatra) and Singkawang City (West Kalimantan) each as deep as -0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, then Denpasar ranks 10th out of 72 cities experiencing inflation.
