Abstract

In December 2023, the city of Denpasar recorded inflation as high as 0.49 percent, as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 115.48 in November to 116.05 in December 2023. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) is the same as the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2023 to December 2022 or year on year/yoy) recorded at 2.54 percent respectively.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, seven expenditure groups were recorded as experiencing inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) at 1.05 percent, group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) at 0.97 percent, group , and financial services) by 0.21 percent, and group V (health) by 0.14 percent. Another group recorded experiencing deflation, namely group II (clothing and footwear) at 0.51 percent. Of the 90 cities monitored by national inflation, 85 cities experienced inflation and 5 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Ternate (North Maluku) at 1.64 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in Meulaboh (Aceh) with deflation as deep as 0.67 percent. If ranked by highest inflation, Denpasar City, with inflation as high as 0.49 percent, ranks 27th out of 85 cities experiencing inflation.
