Singaraja City Consumer Price / Inflation Index Development in January 2020

Abstract

In January 2020 Singaraja City recorded inflation as high as 0.67 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2018 = 100) of 104.33. The January 2020 calendar year inflation rate is the same as January 2020 inflation as high as 0.67 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2020 against January 2019 or YoY) was recorded as high as 2.69 percent.

 

Seven expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 2.01 percent; group IV (household equipment, tools and routine maintenance) as high as 0.59 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.56 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.14 percent; group X (food and beverage / restaurant supply) as high as 0.13 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.10 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels) as high as 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, two expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group VI (transportation) as deep as -0.75 percent; and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as deep as -0.14 percent. Group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture and group IX (education) did not experience changes in the index or stagnant.

 

Commodities recorded contributing to or contributing to inflation in January 2020 include, cayenne pepper, red chili, white cigarettes, fresh anchovies, onions, powder / liquid detergent soap, purebred chicken eggs, filter clove cigarettes, snacks / snacks and prescription drugs.

 

From 90 CPI cities, 79 cities experienced inflation and 11 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Meulaboh City (Aceh) as high as 1.44 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Gorontalo City (Gorontalo) as high as 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Bau-Bau City (Southeast Sulawesi) as deep as -1.39 percent while the shallow deflation was recorded in Kota Kudus (Central Java) as deep as -0.01 percent. If ranked from the highest inflation, then Singaraja ranks 20th out of 79 cities experiencing inflation.
