Abstract
In December 2020 the City of Denpasar experienced inflation as high as 0.62 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) from 103.58 in November 2020 to 104.22 in December 2020. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date / ytd) is the same as the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2020 against December 2019 or YoY) which is as high as 0.55 percent.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, six expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group IV (equipment, tools and routine household maintenance) as high as 2.96 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 1.73 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.43 percent; group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.40 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.12 percent; and group X (provision of food and beverages / restaurants) as high as 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, three groups of expenditure recorded deflation, namely group II (clothing and footwear) at -0.73 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as deep as -0.62 percent; and group XI (personal care and other services) at -0.37 percent. Two other expenditure groups recorded that the index did not change or were stagnant, namely group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) and group IX (education).
Commodities recorded as contributing to or contributing to inflation in December 2020 include canang sari, broiler chicken, bird's eye chilies, red chilies, air transport fares, tomatoes, pork, onions, oranges, and laptops / notebooks.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 87 cities experienced inflation and 3 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kota Gunungsitoli (North Sumatra) as high as 1.87 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Kota Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan) as high as 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Luwuk City (Central Sulawesi) at -0.26 percent, while the lowest deflation was recorded in Ambon City (Maluku) as deep as -0.07 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar City ranks 35th out of 87 cities experiencing inflation.
