Abstract

In June 2021, Singaraja City experienced a deflation of 0.52 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 107.05. The inflation rate for the calendar year June 2021 is as high as 0.80 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (June 2021 versus June 2020 or YoY) was recorded as high as 2.01 percent.

 

Two expenditure groups experienced deflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) by 2.44 percent and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) by 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, five other expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 3.60 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.57 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.20 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.08 percent; and group VI (transportation) as high as 0.06 percent. The other four expenditure groups recorded no change in index or were stagnant, namely group V (health); group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants).

 

Commodities recorded to contribute to deflation in June 2021 include cayenne pepper, red chili, broiler chicken, shallots, young jackfruit, kale, apples, tuna, preserved cob, white cabbage/cabbage, tomatoes, bananas, ginger, watermelon, chicken liver rampela, red beans/joglo, squid, green mustard, and salak.

 

Of the 90 CPI cities, 56 cities experienced deflation and 34 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara) as deep as 0.89 percent while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Palembang (South Sumatra) as deep as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Singkawang (West Kalimantan) as high as 1.36 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in two cities, namely Pekanbaru (Riau) and Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan) each at 0.01 percent. If sorted from deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 5th out of 56 cities experiencing deflation.
