Development of Singaraja City Consumer Price Index/Inflation September 2021

Abstract

In September 2021, Singaraja City experienced deflation as deep as 0.45 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 106.70. The September 2021 calendar year inflation rate is as high as 0.47 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2021 versus September 2020 or YoY) was recorded as high as 1.72 percent.

 

Three expenditure groups experienced deflation (m to m), namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of 1.69 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as deep as 0.96 percent and group XI (personal care and other services) as deep as 0.12 percent. Meanwhile, three other expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group VI (transportation) as high as 0.03 percent, group V (health) as high as 0.02 percent, and group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.02 percent. The other five expenditure groups recorded no change in the index or were stagnant, namely; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel); group VII (information, communication, and financial services); group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants).

 

Commodities recorded as contributing to deflation in September 2021 include rice, cayenne pepper, canang sari, preserved cob, shallots, tomatoes, pork, chicken eggs, and bananas.

Of the 90 CPI cities, 56 cities experienced deflation and 34 cities experienced inflation. If sorted from deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 8th out of 56 cities experiencing deflation.
