Development of Singaraja City Consumer Price Index May 2022

Abstract

In May 2022, Singaraja City recorded inflation as high as 0.58 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) of 111.51. The inflation rate for the calendar year May 2022 is as high as 2.55 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2022 versus May 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 3.62 percent

Six expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 3.88 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 0.83 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.24 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.07 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.01 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, five other expenditure groups recorded no change in index or were stagnant, namely; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel); group VII (information, communication, and financial services); group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants).

Commodities that contributed to inflation in May 2022 include canang sari, preserved cob, red chili, broiler eggs, red chili, tuna/ambu-ambu fish, oranges, tomatoes, biscuits and hand body lotion.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 87 cities experienced inflation and 3 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan City, while the deepest deflation was recorded in Kotamobagu City. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, then Singaraja ranks 57th out of 87 cities experiencing inflation.
