Abstract

In December 2023, Singaraja City was recorded as experiencing month-to-month (m to m) inflation as high as 0.43 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 118.67. The inflation rate for the calendar year (Y to D) December 2023 was as high as 4.31 percent, the same as the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2023 to December 2022 or YoY) which was recorded as high as 4.31 percent.

Seven expenditure groups were recorded as experiencing month-on-month (m to m) inflation, namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) as high as 0.99 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.48 percent; group X (food and beverage/restaurant provision) as high as 0.39 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.12 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.10 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) as high as 0.10 percent; and group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.06 percent. Two expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) at 0.21 percent and group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel) at 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, two other expenditure groups were recorded as not experiencing index changes or stagnating, namely group V (health) and group IX (education).

Of the 90 cities that observe national inflation month to month (m to m), 85 cities are recorded as experiencing inflation and 5 cities are recorded as experiencing deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Ternate City (North Maluku) at 1.64 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Bandar Lampung City (Lampung) at 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Meulaboh City (Aceh) at 0.67 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Dumai City (Riau) and Metro City (Lampung) at 0.03 percent each. If ranked by highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 32nd out of 85 cities experiencing inflation
