Combined Consumer Price Index of Denpasar and Singaraja August 2022

Abstract

In August 2022 the Combined CPI of Denpasar City and Singaraja City was recorded to experience a deflation of 0.23 percent as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 112.11 in July 2022 to 111.85 in August 2022. Meanwhile , the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) in August 2022 was 4.89 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate (August 2022 versus August 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 6.38 percent.

Deflation occurred due to the decline in the prices of public consumption goods/services as indicated by the decline in the CPI in four expenditure groups, namely: group I (food, beverages and tobacco) by 2.15 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as 1.32 percent; group V (health) as deep as 0.06 percent; and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as deep as 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, seven other groups recorded inflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) as high as 2.48 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 1.34 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.47 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.46 percent; group IX (education) as high as 0.42 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.33 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.29 percent.
