Development of Denpasar City Consumer Price Index November 2022

Abstract

In November 2022 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.31 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (2018=100 base year) from 112.30 in October 2022 to 112.65 in November 2022. Meanwhile, the calendar year inflation rate ( year to date/ytd) and year-on-year inflation rates (November 2022 against November 2021 or year on year/yoy) were recorded as high as 5.95 percent and 6.75 percent, respectively.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, four expenditure groups experienced inflation (m to m), namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) of 3.34 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) by 0.88 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) of 0.86 percent; and group I (food, drink and tobacco) by 0.29 percent. Meanwhile, two expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group VI (transportation) by -0.59 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) by -0.09 percent. While the other five expenditure groups are group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel), group V (health), group VII (information, communication, and financial services), group IX (education), group X (provision food and beverages/restaurants) did not experience changes in the index or stagnant.

Of the 90 cities monitored by the National Inflation, 62 cities experienced inflation and 28 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Ambon City (Maluku) at 1.15 percent; while the deepest deflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan City (Bangka Belitung) of -0.64 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar City with inflation as high as 0.31 percent ranks 19th out of 62 cities experiencing inflation.
