Abstract

In February 2023 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.04 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (2018=100 base year) from 113.87 in January to 113.91 in February 2023. Meanwhile, the calendar year inflation rate (year to date/ytd) and year-on-year inflation rates (February 2023 against February 2022 or year on year /yoy) were recorded as high as 0.65 percent and 6.37 percent.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, five expenditure groups experienced inflation (m to m), namely group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel) of 0.71 percent; group I (food, drink and tobacco) by 0.47 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) by 0.36 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) by 0.17 percent; and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) by 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, four other expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) of -1.88 percent; group VI (transportation) by -0.45 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) by -0.12 percent; and group VII (information, communication and financial services) by -0.06 percent. Meanwhile, group V (health) and group IX (education) did not experience any changes in index or were stagnant.

Of the 90 cities monitored by the National Inflation, 63 cities experienced inflation and the other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in the City of Ternate (North Maluku) as high as 1.85 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in the City of Gunungsitoli (North Sumatra) as deep as 0.98 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar City with inflation as high as 0.04 percent ranks 60th out of 63 cities experiencing inflation.
